The Height/Weight sub-tab is used to access anthropometric measurements for a client. It is a tabbed page on the Height/Weight and Blood Work Information screen.

When this screen initially displays in the Participant Folder, the system verifies if a certification attempt is currently in progress. If at least one certification is started and not completed, all controls on the tab are locked with the exception of data grids, tree lists, and list boxes (for viewing records), and any other controls that may have special conditions documented below under Screen Elements. Modifying information on or from the tab is not allowed until the certification attempt is complete.

This applies if a record exists for the selected STATEWICID in the CERTCONTACT table and the CERTCONTACT.CERTENDDATE and CERTCONTACT.CERTINELIGIBLEDATE are not valued.

Screen Access

Display the Height/Weight and Blood Work Information screen > Click the Height/Weight sub-tab as necessary (Height/Weight sub-tab displays by default).
During a Certification attempt: Display the Certification Guided Script screen for a client > Click the Height, Weight and Blood link.
During a Certification attempt: Display the Certification Guided Script screen for a client > On the Guided Script menu, select the Height, Weight, and Blood Work menu option.

Interface Initialization

Upon initial display of the screen, the following occurs:

The Height/Weight sub-tab is visible and enabled, and is the default tab for the screen (the Height/Weight sub-tab is displayed when the screen is initially opened).
The Blood sub-tab is visible and enabled.

The Add button is visible and enabled.

The Growth Grids button is visible and enabled as the default.

If records are listed in the data grid:

The Height/Weight data grid is visible, enabled, and displays all records for the selected StateWICID contained in the ANTHROPCONTACT table.

The first row in the data grid is initially selected as the default.

The Edit button is visible and behaves as follows:

If the current user does not have "Full" permission to the "Mark Previous Ht/Wt as Do Not Plot" feature, the Edit button is disabled unless the record currently selected in the Height/Weight data grid has an anthropometric Measurement Date equal to the current system date. A height/weight record can only be edited on the day it was taken.
If the current user has "Full" permission to the "Mark Previous Ht/Wt as Do Not Plot" feature, the Edit button is enabled regardless of the anthropometric Measurement Date associated with the record currently selected in the Height/Weight data grid. With "Full" permission, the current user is able to select any row in the Height/Weight data grid and click the Edit button to mark the record as "Do Not Plot".

If records are not listed in the data grid:

The data grid is visible, enabled, and blank.

The Edit button is visible and disabled.

In the Participant Folder:

The title bar text is set to "MEMBER.FIRSTNAME MEMBER.MIDDLEINITIAL MEMBER.LASTNAME - {descriptive value of age} - WIC ID: MEMBER.STATEWICID Household ID: MEMBER.HOUSEHOLDID", where {descriptive value of age} equals:

For infants, display "XX" Months "XX" Days, calculated from the Date of Birth.
For children, display "XX" Year(s) "XX" Months "XX" Days calculated from the Date of Birth.
For pregnant women, display "XX" weeks gestation calculated from the LMP start date.
For pregnant women without an LMP date, display "XX" Year(s) calculated from the Date of Birth.
For breastfeeding and non-breastfeeding women, display "XX" Years calculated from the Date of Birth.

The tab title is set to "HT/WT/Blood".
The Unknown Ht/Wt button is visible and disabled if the CLN_ALLOW_UNKNOWN_HT_WT business rule is set to "Y". If the CLN_ALLOW_UNKNOWN_HT_WT business rule is set to "N", the button is not visible.

The current system date and time is displayed in the status bar at the bottom right of the screen.

In the Certification Guided Script or Mid-certification Assessment:

The title bar text is set to "Height/Weight and Blood Work".
The Unknown Ht/Wt button is visible and enabled if the CLN_ALLOW_UNKNOWN_HT_WT business rule is set to "Y". If the CLN_ALLOW_UNKNOWN_HT_WT business rule is set to "N", the button is not visible.

The Close button is visible and enabled as the default.

Screen Elements

Unless otherwise stated below, all controls on the Height/Weight sub-tab screen are visible and enabled when:

The screen is active in the Participant Folder when a Certification Guided Script is not currently being completed or the participant is in a current certification period.

The screen is active during a Certification Guided Script.

Unless otherwise stated below, all controls on the Height/Weight sub-tab screen are visible and disabled when:

The screen is active in the Participant Folder and a Certification Guided Script is currently being completed.

If one or more special conditions exist that affect a control on the Height/Weight sub-tab screen, the condition(s) are documented for that specific control below.

Height/Weight data grid

View the information in the Height/Weight data grid.

This data grid displays the height and weight measurements recorded for the client. The entries in the data grid will be sorted in reverse chronological order according to the values of the Measurement Date column. The values on the data grid are read-only. Single selection is allowed.

The Age at Measurement column displays the calculated age for all participants with WIC Category of Infant, Child, Breastfeeding and Non-Breastfeeding. The Age at Measurement column displays the calculated weeks of gestation for participants with a WIC Category of Pregnant if her last LMP start date has been entered; the column displays her calculated age if the last LMP start date is not available. The entries in the data grid will be sorted in reverse chronological order according to the values of the Measurement Date column. The values on the data grid are read-only. Single selection will be allowed. Double-clicking a record within the data grid will display the Edit function only if the record meets the requirements for Editing as defined for the Edit button for this screen.

The data grid consists of the following control(s):

Measurement Date column

This column displays the date on which the measurement was taken for each measurement record displayed within the data grid.

The title of the column is set to "Measurement Date". The information displayed within the column is read-only.

The column header and data are center aligned.

Age at Measurement column

This column displays the age of the participant at the time the measurement was taken for each measurement record displayed within the data grid.

The information displayed is formatted based on the WIC category of the participant. The value displayed is calculated by using the MEMBER.DATEOFBIRTH and the Measurement Date for the WIC category of Infant, Child, Breastfeeding and Non-breastfeeding to determine the participant's age. The value displayed is calculated using the PREGNANCY.LMPSTART and the Measurement Date for the WIC category of Pregnant to determine the participant's weeks gestation. See the following table for the format of each value displayed based on the participant's WIC category:

The title of the column is set to "Age at Measurement". The information displayed within the column is read-only.

The column header and data are left aligned.

Inches column

This column displays the participant's height in inches at the time the measurement was taken for each measurement record displayed within the data grid.

The title of the column is set to "Inches". The information displayed within the column is read-only.

The column header and data are right aligned.

Eighths column

This column displays the participant's height in eighths at the time the measurement was taken for each measurement record displayed within the data grid.

The title of the column is set to "Eighths". The information displayed within the column is read-only.

The column header and data are right aligned.

Measurement Position column

This column displays the position the participant was in (recumbent or standing) at the time the measurement was taken for each measurement record displayed within the data grid.

The title of the column is set to "Measurement Position". The information displayed within the column is read-only.

The column header and data are left aligned.

Pounds column

This column displays the participant's weight in pounds at the time the measurement was taken for each measurement record displayed within the data grid.

The title of the column is set to "Pounds". The information displayed within the column is read-only.

The column header and data are right aligned.

Ounces column

This column displays the participant's weight in ounces at the time the measurement was taken for each measurement record displayed within the data grid.

The title of the column is set to "Ounces". The information displayed within the column is read-only.

The column header and data are right aligned.

Body Mass Index column

This column displays the participant's body mass index (BMI) at the time the measurement was taken for each measurement record displayed within the data grid.

The title of the column is set to "Body Mass Index". The information displayed within the column is read-only.

The column header and data are right aligned.

% Wt. Chg column

This column displays the participant's percentage of the weight change from the previous measurement taken for each measurement record displayed within the data grid.

The title of the column is set to "% Wt. Chg". The information displayed within the column is read-only.

The column header and data are right aligned.

Plot column

This column indicates if the measurement will be plotted on the Growth Grids for each record displayed within the data grid.

The title of the column is set to "Plot". The information displayed within the column is read-only.

If a height/weight record is flagged as "Do Not Plot", the value displayed in the Plot column is "No". If the height/weight record is marked is not flagged as "Do Not Plot", the Plot column is blank. The value displayed in the Plot column is independent of the Possible Incorrect Measurement Reason and the Measurement Source.

The column header and data are left aligned.

Possible Incorrect Measurement Reason column

This column displays the reason that the measurement is possibly incorrect (if applicable) for each measurement record displayed within the data grid.

The title of the column is set to "Possible Incorrect Measurement Reason". The information displayed within the column is read-only.

The column header and data are left aligned.

Measurement Source column

This column displays the location where the measurement was taken (either at a WIC clinic or outside of a WIC clinic) for each measurement record displayed within the data grid.

The title of the column is set to "Measurement Source". The information displayed within the column is read-only.

The value displayed is the description column of Reference Dictionary where the Category is "MeasurementSource" and the ExternalID of the Reference Dictionary record matches the "MeasurementSource" stored on the AnthropContact table. The description can be up to one hundred thirty-five (135) alphanumeric characters.

The column header and data are left aligned.

Unknown Ht/Wt button

Click the Unknown Ht/Wt button to add a placeholder height and weight measurement to the Height/Weight data grid.

The control is visible and enabled when:

The CLN_ALLOW_UNKNOWN_BIRTH_HT_WT business rule is set to "Y".

Displayed during a Certification Guided Script.

It has a mnemonic of "U".

When the Unknown Ht/Wt button is clicked, the system displays the C0015 standard confirmation message. Yes and No buttons are displayed. If the user clicks the Yes button, the system will return the user to the Height/Weight and Blood Work Information screen and add a placeholder height and weight record to the Height/Weight data grid with "UNKNOWN" values in the following columns of the data grid:

Inches
Eighths
Measurement Position
Pounds
Ounces
Body Mass Index

If the user clicks the No button, the system returns to the Height/Weight and Blood Work Information screen without adding a placeholder height and weight record.

If a height/weight measurement (or a placeholder) already exists for the current system date, the system displays the E0071 standard error message.

NOTE: Depending on your WIC Program, the Unknown Ht/Wt button may not be available.

Growth Grids button

Click the Growth Grids button to display pertinent growth grids based on the client's WIC category.

The control is enabled when:

The WIC Category of the participant is one of the following:
Infant
Child
Pregnant
Breastfeeding, and was certified as Pregnant during the most recent pregnancy
Non-breastfeeding, and was certified as Pregnant during the most recent pregnancy

It has a mnemonic of "G".

The following occurs when the Growth Grids button is clicked:

If the WIC Category of the participant is Infant, the Growth Grids screen displays infant-specific growth grid information. Infant-specific tabs are visible and enabled.
If the WIC Category of the participant is Child, the Growth Grids screen displays child-specific growth grid information. Child-specific tabs are visible and enabled.

If the WIC Category of the participant is Pregnant, the system verifies that the PREGNANCY.LMPSTART, PREGNANCY.PREPREGWEIGHT and PREGNANCY.PREPREGHEIGHT are valued. If at least one of these values are null or 0, the system displays the E0028 standard error message. If these edits are passed, the Growth Grids screen displays woman-specific growth grid information. Woman-specific tabs are visible and enabled.
If the WIC Category of the participant is Breastfeeding or Non-breastfeeding and there is a date in the Expected Delivery Date for the current Pregnancy, the system verifies that the PREGNANCY.LMPSTART, PREGNANCY.PREPREGWEIGHT and PREGNANCY.PREPREGHEIGHT are valued. If at least one of these values are null or 0, the system displays the E0028 standard error message. If these edits are passed, the Growth Grids screen displays woman-specific growth grid information. Woman-specific tabs are visible and enabled.

Add button

Click the Add button to add a record to the data grid.

The control is visible and enabled when:

Displayed during a Certification Guided Script.

The Participant Folder is displayed and does not have an entry with the current system date.

It has a mnemonic of "A".

It is the default button for the screen.

When the button is clicked, a check is performed to determine whether the logged-on user has the appropriate permissions to view the screen. When the user does not have the appropriate permissions, a standard error message (E0006) displays.

The Height/Weight Measurement screen displays in Add mode when the button is clicked.

Edit button

Click the Edit button to edit the record currently selected in the data grid.

The control is enabled when:

The current user has "Full" permission to the "Mark Previous Ht/Wt as Do Not Plot" permission feature.

The control is disabled when:

The current user does not have "Full" permission to the "Mark Previous Ht/Wt as Do Not Plot" permission feature and and a record that was not created on today's date is selected in the data grid.

It has a mnemonic of "E".

The Height/Weight Measurement screen displays in Edit mode when the button is clicked.

Close button

Click the Close button to close the screen.

The control is visible and enabled when:

Displayed during a Certification Guided Script.

It does not have a mnemonic. Its keyboard shortcut is the Esc (escape) key.

The Certification Guided Script screen displays when the button is clicked.

The system will set the GSCONTROL.HWBENTERED value to "Y"

The Certification Guided Script screen is updated to display a check mark icon next to the Height, Weight and Blood link.

Processing

If data can be validated and saved on the screen, the following processes occur when the screen is processed:

A process to check for required controls as identified in the Data Map below is performed.
A process to check for valid entries as identified individually for each applicable control in Screen Elements above is performed.
A process to check for edits and cross edits as identified for each applicable control in Screen Elements above is performed.
If any checks or processes fail, a standard error message displays.

If no data can be validated and saved on the screen:

No cross edits are performed.
All values are considered legitimate.
No data is written to the database.

Data Map

The Data Map defines the values saved for all controls on the screen. If available, any additional notes or comments are displayed in the Notes column.
