The Food Instrument Search screen is used to search for a specific food instrument or group of food instruments.

Unless otherwise stated below, all controls on the Food Instrument Search screen are visible and enabled when:
The screen is active.
If one or more special conditions exist that affect a control on the Food Instrument Search screen, the condition(s) are documented for that specific control below.
Complete the information in the Search Criteria group box.
This group box allows you to indicate which data elements the system will include in the food instrument search. The title text of the group box is set to "Search Criteria". The group box consists of the following controls:
Benefit Number radio button and masked edit box
The control allows the user to enter the Benefit Number as part of the search criteria.
The control is enabled when:
The Benefit Number radio button is selected.
The control accepts the entry of numeric characters. The mask for the masked edit box is "########". The control is initially blank and selected as the default.
If fewer than the maximum number of digits are entered into the masked edit box, it will be padded on the left with zeros.
State WIC ID radio button and masked edit box
The control allows the user to enter the State WIC ID as part of the search criteria.
The control is enabled when:
The State WIC ID radio button is selected.
It allows the entry of alphabetic and numeric characters. The mask for the masked edit box is "########". The control is initially blank.
If fewer than the maximum number of characters are entered into the masked edit box, it will be padded on the left with zeros.
Household ID radio button and masked edit box
The control allows the user to enter the Household ID as part of the search criteria.
The control is enabled when:
The Household ID radio button is selected.
It allows the entry of alphabetic and numeric characters. The mask for the masked edit box is "########". The control is initially blank.
If fewer than the maximum number of characters are entered into the masked edit box, it will be padded on the left with zeros.
Vendor ID radio button and masked edit box
The control allows the user to enter the Vendor ID as part of the search criteria.
The control is enabled when:
The Vendor ID radio button is selected.
The character length for the masked edit box will vary according to your state. The control is initially blank.
The controls excepts numeric characters only. If the vendor has not been assigned a vendor ID, the letter "P" can be entered to search for vendors who have a temporary vendor ID
If the VENDOR_ID_ASSIGNMENT_METHOD business rule is set to "1", the maximum number of characters for this control is the value of the STAMPNUMBERLENGTH business rule. If the VENDOR_ID_ASSIGNMENT_METHOD business rule is set to "2", the maximum number of characters for this control is the value of the VENDORIDLENGTH business rule.
Participant Date calendar control
The control allows the user to enter a month and year as part of the search criteria.
The control is enabled when:
The Vendor ID radio button is selected.
The date selected or entered must be less than or equal to the current system date. If it is not, a standard error message (E0008) displays when the screen is processed.
Paid Date calendar control
The control allows the user to enter the Paid Date as part of the search criteria.
The control is enabled when:
The Vendor ID radio button is selected.
The date selected or entered must be less than or equal to the current system date. If it is not, a standard error message (E0008) displays when the screen is processed.
Click the OK button to process the screen.
It is the default button for the screen, unless otherwise noted.
It does not have a mnemonic. Its keyboard shortcut is the Enter key.
Upon successful completion, the system will search for food instruments that meet the criteria entered into the Search Criteria group box.
The system will provide a hard search for the controls. A hard search will search for exact matches to the values entered.
When matching food instruments are found, the system will exit the Food Instrument Search screen and displays the Food Instrument Disposition screen.
If no records can be found to match the specified search criteria, a standard error message (E0050) displays when the Search button is clicked.
The Food Instrument Disposition screen displays when the button is clicked.
It does not have a mnemonic. Its keyboard shortcut is the Esc (escape) key.
The Participant List screen displays when the button is clicked.
If data can be validated and saved on the screen, the following processes occur when the screen is processed:
A process to check for required controls as identified in the Data Map below is performed.
A process to check for valid entries as identified individually for each applicable control in Screen Elements above is performed.
A process to check for edits and cross edits as identified for each applicable control in Screen Elements above is performed.
If any checks or processes fail, a standard error message displays.
If no data can be validated and saved on the screen:
No cross edits are performed.
All values are considered legitimate.
No data is written to the database.
The Data Map defines the values saved for all controls on the screen. If available, any additional notes or comments are displayed in the Notes column.
