The Infant Information screen is used to view or manage the details of an infant born as a result of the current postpartum client's pregnancy.

The screen can be displayed in Add mode or Edit mode.

Interface Initialization

Upon initial display of the screen, the following occurs:

  • The OK button is visible and enabled as the default.

  • The Cancel button is visible and enabled as the default.

In Add mode:

  • The title bar text is set to "Add Infant Information".

  • Infant Status at Birth drop-down list box is enabled and blank.

  • Infant in Foster Care check box is enabled and unchecked.

  • Infant on WIC check box is enabled and unchecked.

  • Linked Participant button is disabled.

  • Gender drop-down list box is enabled and blank.

  • Height In masked edit box is enabled and blank.

  • Height 8ths masked edit box is enabled and blank.

  • Weight Lbs masked edit box is enabled and blank.

  • Weight Ozs masked edit box is enabled and blank.

  • Ever Breastfed radio button group is enabled with no radio button selected by default.

  • Breastfeeding Now check box is disabled and unchecked.

  • Reason(s) Stopped list box is disabled.

  • Date Breastfeeding Verified calendar control is disabled and blank.

  • Date Breastfeeding Began calendar control is disabled and blank.

  • Date Breastfeeding Ended calendar control is disabled and blank

  • Date Supplemental Feeding Began calendar control is enabled and blank.

  • Date Solids Were Introduced calendar control is disabled and blank.

In Edit mode:

  • The title bar text is set to "Edit Infant Information".

  • All data controls are enabled or disabled as designated by their previously saved settings and display previously saved values.

Unless otherwise stated below, all controls on the Infant Information screen are visible and enabled when:

Infant Status at Birth drop-down list box

  Select the infant's status at the time of birth in the Infant Status at Birth drop-down list box.

The drop-down list box contains options for all infant birth statuses from the Reference Dictionary category for 'INFCONDPP'. If the screen is in Add mode, the control is initially blank. If the screen is in Edit mode, the value is populated from the STATUSPPVISIT column of the POSTPARTUMINFANT table.

The control is disabled when:

When either the "Not Alive at Postpartum Visit" or "Stillborn, Miscarriage, Abortion" option is selected in the Infant Status at Birth drop-down list box, the following controls are reset and disabled:

When an option other than "Not Alive at Postpartum Visit" or "Stillborn, Miscarriage, Abortion" is selected in the Infant Status at Birth drop-down list box, the following controls are enabled:

Infant in Foster Care check box

  Select the Infant in Foster Care check box to indicate the infant is in foster care.

If the screen is in Add mode, the control value is initially cleared. If the screen is in Edit mode, the value is selected if the INFANT-IN-FOSTER-CARE column of the POSTPARTUMINFANT table is valued.

NOTE: If "Live at Postpartum Visit" or "Unknown" is selected in the Infant Status at Birth drop-down list box OR the Infant in Foster Care check box is unchecked, an entry is required in the following controls:

  • Gender drop-down list box

Infant on WIC check box

  Select the Infant on WIC check box to indicate the infant participates in the local WIC program.

The control is enabled when:

If the screen is in Add mode, the control value is initially cleared. If the screen is in Edit mode, the value is selected if the STATEWICID column of the POSTPARTUMINFANT table is valued.

State WIC Information group box

  Complete the information in the State WIC Information group box.

This group box includes controls that allow you to link the mother to the infant or child. The title text of the group box is set to "State WIC Information". The following controls are included in the group box:

State WIC ID text and value label

The text and value label displays the State WIC ID of the infant born from the current pregnancy.

The control is enabled when:

If the screen is in Add mode, the value label is initially blank. If the screen is in Edit mode, the value label displays the value of the STATEWICID column of the POSTPARTUMINFANT table if the infant is participating in WIC. If the infant is not a WIC participant, the State WIC ID value label displays the text N/A for Not Applicable.

The information displayed is read-only. The value label displays in the inverse color of the screen.

Name text and value label

The text and value label displays the name of the infant born from the current pregnancy.

The control is enabled when:

The text and value label is disabled and cleared when the value "Not Alive at Postpartum Visit" or "Stillborn, Miscarriage, Abortion" is selected in the Infant Status at Birth drop-down list box.

If the screen is in Add mode, the value label is initially blank. If the screen is in Edit mode and if the infant is on WIC, the value label displays the value of the FIRSTNAME, MIDDLEINITIAL, and LASTNAME columns of the MEMBER table from the STATEWICID column of the POSTPARTUMINFANT table. If the infant is not on WIC, the value label displays the text N/A for Not Applicable.

The information displayed is read-only. The value label displays in the inverse color of the screen.

Linked Participant button

Click this button (pictured below) to select a participant in the WIC program and link their Health Information record to the current participant.

Establishing a link identifies the selected record as the participant resulting from this WIC pregnancy.

The control is enabled when:

It does not have a mnemonic.

The Linked Participant screen displays when the button is clicked.

Upon return from the Linked Participant screen after a participant has been identified, the selected participant's State WIC ID and Name text and value labels are displayed on the Infant Information screen. The control values for Infant StateWICID and Infant Name are refreshed. The values within the Birth Information and Breastfeeding Information group boxes on the Infant Information screen are populated with the values from the selected participant's record.

If the selected participant is already linked to a MothersWICID when the button is clicked, the system displays the E0091 standard error message. The screen is not refreshed.

If no infants were found with a birth date within 5 days of the mother's actual delivery date, the system displays the E0083 standard error message.

Note

NOTE: When a link is created between a mother's records and those of her infant, the remaining information on the screen is filled in with information recorded for the infant's records.

Birth Information group box

  Complete the information in the Birth Information group box.

This group box includes controls that allow you to enter birth information for the infant or child. The title text of the group box is set to "Birth Information". The following controls are included in the group box:

Gender drop-down list box

Select the infant's gender at birth. The options of Male and Female are available.

The control is disabled when:

If the screen is in Add mode, the control is initially blank. If the screen is in Edit mode, the value is populated from the Gender column of the INFANT -PREGNANCY table.

Height In masked edit box

Enter the infant's height at birth in whole inches.

The control is disabled when:

The control accepts the entry of numeric characters. The mask for the control is "##". The value entered in the masked edit box must be within the range of 1 - 99 inclusive or the system displays a standard error message with the text, "{control label} range is 1 to 99".

If the screen is in Add mode, the control is initially blank. If the screen is in Edit mode, the value is populated from the LengthInches column of the POSTPARTUMINFANT table.

Height 8ths masked edit box

Enter the remainder of the infant's height at birth in eighths of an inch.

The control is disabled when:

The control accepts the entry of numeric characters. The mask for the control is "#". The value entered in the masked edit box must be within the range of 0 - 7 inclusive or the system displays a standard error message with the text, "{control label} range is 0 to 7".

If the screen is in Add mode, the control is initially blank. If the screen is in Edit mode, the value is populated from the LENGTHEIGHTHS column of the POSTPARTUMINFANT table.

Weight Lbs masked edit box

Enter the infant's weight at birth in whole pounds.

The control is disabled when:

The control accepts the entry of numeric characters. The mask for the control is "##". The value entered in the masked edit box must be within the range of 0 - 40 inclusive or the system displays a standard error message with the text, "{control label} range is 0 to 40".

If the screen is in Add mode, the control is initially blank. If the screen is in Edit mode, the value is populated from the WEIGHTPOUNDS column of the POSTPARTUMINFANT table.

Weight Ozs masked edit box

Enter the remainder of the infant's weight at birth in ounces.

The control is disabled when:

The control accepts the entry of numeric characters. The mask for the control is "##". The value entered in the masked edit box must be within the range of 0 - 15 inclusive or the system displays a standard error message with the text, "{control label} range is 0 to 15".

If the screen is in Add mode, the control is initially blank. If the screen is in Edit mode, the value is populated from the WEIGHTOUNCES column of the POSTPARTUMINFANT table.

Breastfeeding Information group box

  Complete the information in the Breastfeeding Information group box.

This group box includes controls that allow you to enter the feeding information for the infant or child. The title text of the group box is set to "Breastfeeding Information". The following controls are included in the group box:

Ever Breastfed radio button group

This radio button group includes controls that allow you to indicate whether the applicant has ever been breastfed. The title text of the radio button group is set to "Ever Breastfed". The following radio buttons are included in the group:

Yes radio button

Select this radio button to indicate the client has been breastfed.

No radio button

Select this radio button to indicate the client has never been breastfed.

Unknown radio button

Select this radio button to indicate that it is not known whether the client has ever been breastfed.

The control is disabled when:

If the screen is in Add mode, the control has no default selection. If the screen is in Edit mode, the value is populated from the EVERBREASTFED column of the POSTPARTUMINFANT table.

Upon selection of the No or Unknown radio buttons, the following controls are reset:

Breastfeeding Now check box

Select this check box to indicate the infant is currently breastfeeding.

The control is enabled when:

The control is disabled when:

It defaults to the value of the CURRENTLYBREASTFED column of the POSTPARTUMINFANT table if the birth information for the child was previously entered.

When the breastfeeding now value is changed and no risk factors remain after changing the value, when the screen is processed the system displays the E0384 standard error message.

Upon checking the Breastfeeding Now check box, the following controls are reset:

Date Breastfeeding Verified calendar control

Select or enter the date on which the client's breastfeeding status was verified in this calendar control.

The control is enabled when:

The control is disabled when:

The calendar control is disabled when the Ever Breastfed radio button is No or Unknown.

If the screen is in Add mode, the control is initially disabled and blank. If the screen is in Edit mode, the value is populated from the VERIFIEDDATE column of the POSTPARTUMINFANT table. If not, the mother's actual delivery date will be used. If all else fails, the system uses a date 5 years ago today.

If an invalid date is entered in the calendar control, a standard error message (E0015) displays.

The date selected or entered must be less than or equal to the current system date. If it is not, a standard error message (E0008) displays when the screen is processed.

The date selected or entered must be greater than the member's date of birth. If it is not, when the screen is processed the system displays the E0086 standard error message.

Breastfeeding Amount drop-down list box

Select the amount of breastfeeding from this drop-down list box.

The control is enabled when:

The control is disabled when:

The drop-down list box contains options for all amounts of breastfeeding from the Reference Dictionary for category 'BFAMOUNT'. If the screen is in Add mode, the control is initially populated with "Not Applicable". If the screen is in Edit mode, the value is populated from the AMOUNTBREASTFEEDING column of the POSTPARTUMINFANT table.

Upon selecting "Fully Breastfeeding" in this drop-down list box, the following controls are reset:

If the Breastfeeding Amount drop-down list box is enabled: If no selection has been made in the Breastfeeding Amount drop-down list box, if the Yes radio button is selected and the Breastfeeding Now check box is selected, the control is required.

If the breastfeeding amount is changed and all other edits are passed, the system displays the C0064 standard confirmation message. The options of Yes and No are available. If the user clicks Yes, the following occurs:

If the user clicks No, the breastfeeding amount is reverted to the previous value.

When the Breastfeeding Amount drop-down list box is changed and no risk factors remain after changing the drop-down list box, when the screen is processed the system displays the E0384 standard error message.

Date Breastfeeding Began calendar control

Select or enter the date on which the client began breastfeeding in this calendar control.

The control is enabled when:

The control is disabled when:

If the screen is in Add mode, the control is initially blank. If the screen is in Edit mode, the value is populated from the BREASTFEEDINGBEGAN column of the POSTPARTUMINFANT table.

If no entry has been made in the Date Breastfeeding Began calendar control and the Yes radio button is selected in the Ever Breastfed radio button group, the control is required.

If an invalid date is entered in the calendar control, a standard error message (E0015) displays.

The date selected or entered must be less than or equal to the current system date. If it is not, a standard error message (E0008) displays when the screen is processed.

The date selected or entered must be greater than the member's date of birth. If it is not, when the screen is processed the system displays the E0086 standard error message.

Date Breastfeeding Ended calendar control

Select or enter the date on which the client ceased to breastfeed in this calendar control.

The control is enabled when:

The control is disabled when:

If the screen is in Add mode, the control is initially blank. If the screen is in Edit mode, the value is populated from the BREASTFEEDINGEND column of the POSTPARTUMINFANT table. If not, the mother's actual delivery date will be used. If all else fails, the system uses a date 5 years ago today.

If the Date Breastfeeding Ended calendar control is enabled: If no entry has been made in the Date Breastfeeding Ended calendar control and the Breastfeeding Now check box is unchecked, the control is required.

If an invalid date is entered in the calendar control, a standard error message (E0015) displays.

The date selected or entered must be less than or equal to the current system date. If it is not, a standard error message (E0008) displays when the screen is processed.

The date selected or entered must be greater than the member's date of birth. If it is not, when the screen is processed the system displays the E0086 standard error message.

Reason(s) Stopped list box

Select one or more reasons the client ceased to breastfeed in the Reason(s) Stopped list box. This is a multi-select list box.

The control is enabled when:

The control is disabled when:

The list box displays reasons why breastfeeding was stopped from the Reference Dictionary for category 'BFSTOPRSN'. If the screen is in Add mode, no defaults are selected. If the screen is in Edit mode, the value defaults to the STOPPEDBFREASON column of the POSTPARTUMINFANTBFSTOPREASON table.

If the list box is enabled: If no selection has been made in the Reason(s) Stopped list box and the Breastfeeding Now check box is unchecked, the control is required.

Date Supplemental Feeding Began calendar control

Select or enter the date on which the infant's diet was introduced anything other than breast milk in this calendar control.

The control is disabled when:

If the screen is in Add mode, the control is initially blank. If the screen is in Edit mode, the value is populated from the SUPPFEEDBEGANDATE column of the POSTPARTUMINFANT table.

If no entry has been made in the Date Supplemental Feeding Began calendar control and the Breastfeeding Now check box is unchecked, the control is required.

If an invalid date is entered in the calendar control, a standard error message (E0015) displays.

The date selected or entered must be less than or equal to the current system date. If it is not, a standard error message (E0008) displays when the screen is processed.

The date selected or entered must be greater than the member's date of birth. If it is not, when the screen is processed the system displays the E0086 standard error message.

Date Solids Were Introduced calendar control

Select or enter the date on which the solid foods were introduced into the infant's diet in this calendar control.

The control is enabled when:

If the screen is in Add mode, the control is initially blank. If the screen is in Edit mode,the value is populated from the SOLIDSINTRODUCEDDATE column of the POSTPARTUMINFANT table.

If an invalid date is entered in the calendar control, a standard error message (E0015) displays.

The date selected or entered must be less than or equal to the current system date. If it is not, a standard error message (E0008) displays when the screen is processed.

The date selected or entered must be greater than the member's date of birth. If it is not, when the screen is processed the system displays the E0086 standard error message.

OK button

  Click the OK button to process the screen.

It is the default button for the screen, unless otherwise noted.

It does not have a mnemonic. Its keyboard shortcut is the Enter key.

The Infants Born from This Pregnancy screen displays when the button is clicked.

The following values are updated on the POSTPARTUMINFANT table when information is added or editing from the Infants Born from This Pregnancy screen.

POSTPARTUMINFANT.STATEWICID is the infant/child's State WIC ID.

When the OK button is clicked, if the previously linked infant is removed (There was a linked infant and now the On WIC check box is unchecked or the linked Infant ID is different):

When the OK button is clicked, if an infant was selected (The On WIC check box is selected and the linked Infant ID is different):

If the there is a hard link, the infant or child is linked to an Infant Born from a WIC Pregnancy on the Mother's Health Information, the following values are updated on the associated Child table:

POSTPARTUMINFANT.STATEWICID is the infant/child's State WIC ID.

Update the linked participant's MEMBER row MODIFIEDBY and MODIFIEDDATE.

Cancel button

Click the Cancel button to close the screen without processing or saving data.

It does not have a mnemonic. Its keyboard shortcut is the Esc (escape) key.

The Infants Born from This Pregnancy screen displays when the button is clicked.
