Business Rule: SAVDUPDEMOGRAPHICS

When prescreening new applicants for the WIC program on the Applicant Prescreening screen in the Clinic application of the SPIRIT WIC system, potential duplicate participant records can be detected automatically (see the Potential Duplicate Applicant/Participant business rule in this document).

When a potential duplicate record is detected, basic demographic information is displayed on the Potential Duplicate Applicant/Participant screen for review. If the user finds that one of the records displayed on the screen matches the applicant they are trying to prescreen, the user has the option to open the Participant Folder for the "potential duplicate" record. If the demographic information of the duplicate record does not match the information entered on the Applicant Prescreening screen, the system can give the user the choice to update the existing information in the database with the new demographic information entered during prescreening process.

The business rule enables the state to define whether the user should be given the choice to update the demographic information of the "potential duplicate" with the information entered during the applicant prescreening process.

When the business rule is enabled, the system displays a standard confirmation message asking if the user would like the participant information updated with the new applicant information if any of the following information is different:
