Business Rule: ENDCERTBEFOREWEEKEND
The Clinic application of the SPIRIT WIC system automatically determines the certification period for a participant based upon their WIC Category and other information. The certification becomes effective on the current system date and ends on the date when their certification period is over. The certification end date can fall on a week day or a weekend.
The business rule enables the state to define that the system should adjust the certification end date to prevent the certification end date from falling on a Saturday or a Sunday. The system will adjust the certification end date to be the Friday before the weekend in question.
For example, if a Non-breastfeeding woman delivered on 11/05/2002 and is certified on 12/15/2003 then [typically] her certification end date would be 05/05/2003 (6 months from the date of delivery). In the example above, if the fifth of May fell on a Sunday, the system would adjust her certification end date to 05/03/2003 (the Friday before the weekend in question).
Be aware that participant certifications ending on a Saturday or Sunday near the start of a calendar month will result in the system adjusting the certification end date to the Friday of the previous month. For example, if a participant's certification ended on Sunday May 02, 2003 then the system would adjust the certification end date to be Friday April 30, 2003.
