SWEM is a software product created by CDP in conjunction with the SPIRIT User Group. The goal of the SWEM software is to provide a Middleware layer between SPIRIT and a Universal Interface 2014 compliant EBT system. SPIRIT had previously been coded to a legacy interface with a processor who is no longer active in the WIC EBT industry. This system pre-dated the WUMEI and the 2014 interface specification. This discrepancy produced a need for SPIRIT to be altered to talk to these new systems. After much consideration it was determined that an additional piece of software to handle the translation would be the best fit. This new software is what we now know as SWEM.
NOTE: SWEM functionality is in the process of being added to the WEM project software.
There are some prerequisite installation steps that must be completed prior to the installation of SWEM.
SWEM is installed using a typical windows installer (MSI) file, this file invokes an installation wizard. This Installation Guide provides a step-by-step guide for installing the software.

* 500 MB assumes file storage and database storage is handled elsewhere. If a single machine hosts the entire environment, additional storage will be necessary.
Configuration of SWEM is spread across multiple files on the host system. They are in the root folders of each project impacted. For example configuration elements that directly impact the legacy interface are found in the client endpoint folder, those that have a direct impact to the message processing are found in the message processing folder, etc.
